Catherine Lucas practices in commercial litigation, insolvency, construction dispute resolution and debt recovery.
Catherine is a solicitor of 3 years experience in a variety of litigation and dispute matters including contractual, tortious, trade practices, Security of Payment and Corporations Act disputes in various jurisdictions.
During that time, Catherine has specialised in building and construction litigation and dispute resolution, appearing for builders, subcontractors, home owners and developers in relation to residential and commercial construction projects as well as liquidators and major corporations.
Some of the matters conducted by Catherine include:
1. Acting in the Supreme Court for a major Club facility with respect to a complex construction dispute with a builder where the combined issues of the parties are quantified at in excess of $3m;
2. Acting for both a corporation and its directors in the defence of Occupational Health and Safety prosecutions involving deaths in the workplace;
3. Acting on behalf of deed administrators in the recovery of assets of companies the subject of Deeds of Company Arrangement;
4. Assisting in obtaining urgent interlocutory relief in the Supreme Court by way of injunctions and other orders;
5. Assisting in the conduct of complex litigation for construction companies including the preparation of evidence and necessary advices and relating to projects valued at in excess of $10m; and
6. Providing advice in respect of disputes that have proceeded on a non litigated basis.
